When you have been in an industry long enough you start to find the normal things hobbyist would enjoy for instance, overclocking on the latest high end CPU a 9950X, to be almost mundane. You long for the obscure and unique. So when an OC friend of mine said hey did you know they make a quad core AM5 cpu and it's Epyc I knew I had to give it a shot. Enter the AMD EPYC™ 4124P. Will it be unlocked, well it's a "server named" part so probably not. Ok well we have bclk we can overclock with. Will it even boot or be recognized in a "normal" AM5 socket motherboard without ECC memory etc? Alot of questions but worth the risk if it pans out. These seem quite rare in the USA. I had to snag mine off ebay from Italy.
Fast forward 12 days and it's here and guess what? It drops right in, is fully unlocked and overclocks like hell! AMD give the people what they want the quad of the gods! 5.5ghz is possible 1.35v on water cooling for threaded benchmarks. 6.4ghz+ is possible on ln2 and it destroys the 4 core rankings at HWBot.org that is all for now. Keep some secrets for later.
